Masters Degree

Well, I have been praying about what to do with my life. 10 years in the classroom has made me think maybe I need another route. I love my students and I love teaching them, but the TAKS test and all the pressure that comes with it, has really taken a toll on me. I spoke with my principal about wanting to be a Speech-Pathologist. Both of my girls have/had speech issues and I have been interested in learning more about it and how to help, but when researching it I found that I needed 24 hours undergrad in Speech-Path and then 36 for my masters. That just isn't feasible. I then thought about being a diagnostician which would test students for learning disabilities and facilitate ARD meetings. Rita told me to check with Region XI and see what they offer. Well, the Diagnostician information said that the internship would be $6000! OHH NO! So I was browsing the site and found Speech-Path! There is an informational meeting on the 31st. It shows that Region XI and TWU (Texas Women's University) have teamed up and have what they call a Cycle about to begin. I registered for the meeting to see what all I will need to do, but it did say this meeting it geared towards those of us that do not have an undergrad in Speech-Path.

I hope this pans out! I am so excited to have found this information. I will post as soon as I know more about the program :*)
